Dyeing hair is one of the unfortunate tasks that women (and some men) go through to look younger and feel good about their appearance. Or if you’re Kelly Osbourne, because your favorite color is purple. Maybe you want to hide some grays, or maybe you’ve always wanted to be a redhead. Whatever the reason, there are alternatives to using the chemical goo you can buy from any drug store.

Dyeing your hair dries it out. Over time, even those color treated hair shampoos can’t manage to give you that natural hair feeling. Speaking for experience a bad dye job can ruin your life.

Learn from my mistakes—don’t use chemicals! In fact, some of these chemicals are so crazy that you don’t even know what’s going on your head or in your body. Naphthalenediol, Methoxytoluene, and Diaminobenzoic acid are just a few of the banned substances, but you get the picture.  Here are ways to get a more natural hair color.

Fresh Lemon Juice, Chamomile Tea & Calenbula Tea for Blonde Hair

Things like chamomile tea or lemon and sitting in the sun will give you highlights and lighten your locks. But here’s a mixture that will really give you fast results.

Natural Herbal Blonde Hair Dye Ingredients

1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice
2 cups of strong Chamomile Tea
1/2 cup of strongCalendulatea (this will give you golden tones)
Blonde Hair Dye Directions

Mix everything in a spray bottle and shake before each use.
Spritz all over hair and brush it through.
Now go enjoy the sunshine for a few hours and then rinse off.

Natural Herbal Hair Dye Recipes for Red, Blonde, Brown & Black Hair
Need a simple solution to those grays but hate the thought of chemicals? Nettles, lemon juice, and chamomile tea could be your herbal hair dye answer!
I’ve always wanted to be a redhead, but after my mishaps with hair dye I am leery for touching anything chemical based.

Herbal Hair Dye Ingredients for Red Hair

2 cups of water
1/2 cup of Calendula Flowers or fresh marigold petals
2 tablespoons of Hibiscus Petals (the more you use, the redder the hue)
Natural Red Hair Dye Directions

Boil the water and simmer the flowers for half an hour.
Strain the flowers and store the liquid in the fridge.
Use this as a final hair rinse in the shower and dry in the sun.
Repeat this until you get the shade you want and then every few days to maintain the hues.
Nettle, Rosemary & Sage Herbal Hair Dye Recipe for Brown Hair

Using the same techinque as the herbal red hair tea, use these ingredients. You should use this as a rinse before or after showering. You don’t have to sit in the sun.

Brown Hair Dye Natural Recipe Ingredients

1/4 cup of Nettle Leaf
1/4 cup of Rosemary Leaf
1/4 cup of Sage Leaf
2 1/2 cups of water
Black Walnut Powder Dye for Black Hair

Now, if you’re trying to go to black from blonde, this might take a while. There are two methods that work. First, try a strong brewed black tea as a rinse to darken any hair color. Sun dry your hair if you can and repeat as much as you need to to get the color you want.

All Natural Herbal Black Hair Dye Recipe Ingredients

*Muslims should avoid black color though you can mix it with another color and that will not be haram
