you will need:
silk/viscose scarf
masking tape
pencil
ruler
cord thread
beading needle
20g 4mm gold pearls
28g 4mm dark brown pearls
28gr 4mm burnt orange seed beads
28g orange seed beads
28g apricot seed beads

1 stick a lenght of masking tape across the width of the scarf and stick the ends to the work surface. Measure the width of the scarf and mark approximately every 2cm (3/4in) along the tape.

2 Beginning at one corner, attach a lenght of cord thread and pick up 1 dark brown pearl,6 seed beads (1 burnt orange,1 orange,2 apricot, 1 orange and 1 burn orange were used here), 1 gold pearl,6seed beads (as before) and 1 dark brown pearl. Take a tiny stitch into the scarf below the second mark then put the needle back through the dark brown pearl. Work across the scarf adding the same loop of beads between the marks. Sew in the end.

3 Secure a second thread with a couple of tiny stitches on the reverse side and bring it out through the first dark brown pearl. Pick up 8 seed bead (1 burn orange,2orange,2 apricot,2 orange and 1 burn orange were used here), then 1 brown pearl. Repeat three times. Add another sting of beads down the other side.

4 Take a new lenght of thread up through the second dark brown bead at one side. Pick up 6 seed beads (order as in step 2) and take the needle through the gold pearl. Pick up another 6 seed beads (as before) and 1 dark brown pearl. Continue like this across the widht.

5 At the other end take the needle down through the dark brwn pearl at the end. Work back across, feeding the needle through the dark brown beads. Continue adding rows of bead netting until you reach the last dark brwn bead at each side.

***tip: When you need a new thread, join the ends together with a reef knot and sew the ends back through several beads before trimming close to the netting.

6 Pick up 21 seed beads (order as in step 3 until there are 21 beads), 1 dark brown pearl and 1 nurn orange seed bead. Take the needle back through the dark brown pearl, the seed beads and the next dark brown pearl. Pick up 6 seed beads (as in step 2), feed the needle through the gold pearl at the bottom of the netting and pick yp another 6 seed beads (as before) and 1 brown pearl. Repeat until the fringe and last row of netting is complete. Sew in thread ends securely.
